Yoshitaka Amano (2)


With the development of the electricity industry, electronic game becomes the property industry which was awarded by more and more people. As a famous game in few years ago, “Final Fantasy”, an electronic game made by Nintendo, faced a coldness market since the pressure from other games. “Final Fantasy” was the last hope of the company and Yoshitaka began his transboundary creation through this game. From 1874, Yoshitaka painting a huge amount scene, created many circums productions and all roles design for Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy became the classical game nowadays. Without the illustration, Yoshitaka has a great deal of identity, such as the choreography, the photographer and the film script editor, while his each identity was accepted by audiences. Some critics thought Yoshitaka has a circumscribed painting style with a lantern jaw and slim characters; however, people cannot repudiate his abundant imagine. His painting belongs to the Vienna Secessionism but he used the bright-colour to describe a bleak atmosphere. He work with his own style, not belongs to anyone.

Yoshitaka Amano (1)


Yoshitaka Amano is not a familiar for the majority of people in the world, but if you are a big fan of electronic game, you must hear his name before. Yoshitaka Amano born in Tokyo in 1952, and finish his study in Tokyo Art of University. When he was 15, he joined in the Production I.G company, the first ancestor of cartoon manufacture. He played an important role, original painting designer, in this company when he was 17. The experience during working in Production I.G made him has a high popularity in the future. As a significant turning point, Yoshitaka accepted his first illustration work, which for a well-known magazine《SF Magazine 》in 1982. In the same period, he quitted the Production I.G company and build his own studio: Sky. Some people feel excited about his decision, but he think his creation need a more freedom space. After that, he still working as a private illustration. However, more private time give him more imagine when he was creating. His work won the Nebula Award prize of four years in succession from 1983 to 1986. That time become a peak of his life.

Murakami Takashi




Murakami Takashi is one of representing in Japan fashion art. His work is well-received by youth, middle age people and elder people. He finished hid art lessons in Tokyo art university in 1967. The man, who accepted ten years traditional art education, began to consider his special painting style. He recognized, the West art created is totally different with Japanese art; thus, in this generation, people who creating a new style, should based on their traditional culture. In that time, cartoon is a new industry which many people have connectedly jobs; however, Murakami used the element in his work. In his painting, audiences can see some cartoon from their country, but the most important and representative is an America cartoon character: Mickey Mouse. That is perfect incorporation between two different cultures. Murakami work always has intensity emotion and color; although it has not deep meaning, none of the audience cannot understand his work.

Yoshitomo Nara


Yoshitomo Nara

In art world, Yoshitomo Nara is one of an important artist who was active in Japan and worldwide in this decade. Yoshitomo Nara was born in a normal family in 1959. He was the youngest child.  When he was young, he began showed a normal talent in art class; however, the comment from his art teacher said his work is so mature so that had less children's simplicity. Yoshitomo was not a student who has a great deal of pension in his study. When he was in Musashino Art University, he tried to discover an art style which has a resolution. In that time, a girl who has a ill-disposed eyesight becomes a symbol in Yoshitomo’s works. From ill-disposed eyesight, audiences find resonance with isolation and sad. Yoshitomo Nara said, loneliness is the motive power when he was working since this kind of emotion include many things, such as memory, love and live. As a result, audience can find themselves through the expression in character’s eyes.

Kenya Hara


Kenya Hara is the most famous graphic designer in Japan nowadays.  As the pioneer of Japanese arts, Kenya brings a new idea and interesting style for the world. In the early years, Kenya worked for the government and do some public activities, such as created brochure
for Nagano winter Olympic Games, designed some logo for public articles. However, his most famous design is ‘white’ when he worked in MUJI.




In 2002, Kenya became the design director of MUJI. In that time, MUJI existed for a long time, but not many people know its name. Some people though they should make a brand more famous so that people are willing to spend more money to buy it. While Kenya though a designer need to make some familiar things to be unfamiliar, thus customs want to buy the production due to their interesting. Kenya began make MUJI’s productions simple, without any decorations and based on one color -- white. Adding some decorations on a production is simple, but remove something from the production is difficult. From these simple goods, customs will feel a kind of aesthetics from his design and minimalism is a form from the Japan's traditional culture.  Nowaday, MUJI has almost 6,000 productions which conclude post, print and daily necessity.

Yayoi Kusama (2)




The summer after Yayoi Kusama had an exhibition with Andy Warhol, she got more and more chance to show her design for the world and she became one of a pioneer of the Avant-garde art in America. All of her exhibitions based on wave point. However, since long-term create activity and short rest time, she had serious schizophrenia in 1974.  After that , she disappeared from the art and stay in a mental hospital in Tokyo. During the life in a mental hospital, she had not abandoned her work while some important paintings was created in that time. Yayoi stayed in the mental hospital for 30 years, but her painting which about a great deal of wave point become more and more mature.

The wave point created by Yayoi is a kind of way that can make a communication between art and Yayoi. When she was borned, she had a different vision that everything in the world was consisted by points. Her childhood, her experience in America, and the life in a mental hospital make her painting crazy, intensity and moved. Like she said, if she has a next life, she will decide to be an artist. Art is nothing to do with survival and death, but art is all of life.
