Yayoi Kusama (1)

In 1929, Yayoi Kusama was born in a rich family in Tokyo.  In her childhood, she was a quiet girl who stayed alone for a long time than other peers.  Even though Yayoi Kusama show the talent in art, her mother was object to the kind of talent because she think art was not a valid job for a girl. The memory in Yayoi’s childhood is not beautiful, but she still create some works, such as the strange and huge plant, to express her emotion.


She found the painting which created by Georgia Totto O'Keeffe in a bookshop when she was 25.  She wrote a letter for Georgia to tell the female artiste although she was far from the art, she need Georgia’s help to lead her become a professional artiste. With the reply form the Georgia, Yayoi began her art life. When she arrived in New York, she start to created the wave point. In that time, pop art was fashionable in America. The wave point created by Yayoi drew in large crowds. Therefore, she got a chance to make an exhibition with Andy Warhol and her name was recorded in pop art history.
