Map Design of Qingdao

Not long ago, I had a trip to Qingdao with my family. During our trip to Qingdao, I found that though Qingdao has so many tourist attractions, there are few maps which are specially designed for tourist attractions. Although the city map involves lots of contents, they are complex.  In order to be convenient for my friends or others to find the main location of scenery spots and avoid the troubles of looking at the map, I decided to mak a brief map.  I surfed the Internet to study map of Qingdao, and I marked main streets and scenery spots to simplify the map. ( Sketch map 1).

Most of buildings in Qingdao are western style and their structures are complicated, so I simplified their outlines based on their original features. Like the Qingdao Trestle, its outline is obvious, so it is easy to simplify. However, the places, like Qingdao Railway Station, are difficult to simplify. And I usually added some trivial details on map, such as windows, eaves, etc. Later, I found that they not only made the outline incomplete, but also can’t highlight their features. So in the end, I remained some important windows, doorways to  make the outline clear. (Sketch map 2)

Affinitive narration

Maybe I can’t make a precise enough map now, but as a map, the architectural outlines of main scenery spots are clear. Compared with those Qingdao maps, this map is much easier for people to know the locations and names of the main scenery spots in Qingdao, which let tourists have general
 understanding of Qingdao tourist lines.
