Kim Jung-Gi (1)


Talking about famous illustrator in Korean, people cannot forget one name: Kim Jung-Gi. Kim Jung-Gi is a worldwide illustrator who was widely known in Korean. Whenever people appreciate to his works, they will feel exclamatory about the detail, the atmosphere and the high painting skill. Kim Jung-Gi bron in Gyeonggi-do in 1975 and graduated in DONG-EUI UNIVERSITY. In that time, his major: Western art, is a very unfamiliar name for the majority of Korean; however, Kim chose this field since he said the Western art will be the popularity after few years. Interestingly, his foresee became the reality and his work which he created during his study acquired the admit from many companies. As a result, Kim got his first job in《Young Jump》magazine from 2001 to 2002 and he began his art way. Even though he stayed in this companies just for one year, he gains a lot from this experience. In 2003, his work won recognition from Samsung and Kim received an invitation for created an advertisement for Samsung. In the next decade, he has received many works from famous companies, such as Korean Air and GOMTV. All of these works have been won critical acclaim. Gradually, Kim becomes the most famous illustrator so that nobody did not know 
his name in Korean.

Kim Jung-Gi (2)


Although there are many painting software for computer and many artists prefer to drawing through other technology nowadays. Kim Jung-Gi still insist use pen, pencil and other common tools to do the hand-drawn presentation. He thought, painting is a way which is communicated between artist and paper, I can touch the paper and acquire more information and imagine from them. When audience appreciate his work carefully, it is not hard to see nothing was respected in his work. Kim Jung-Gi has a magical skill that he never draws a draft when he do his final work. In Korean international cartoon exhibition, Kim spent three days to draw a big occasion in a long paper which has 9 miles. Each role in this painting has different face and action. Interestingly, Kim had not do any draft before he drawed this picture. From some text, investigators found Kim can repeat one scene which he saw before for 80 percent. Talking about this wonderful skill, Kim said he like to observe everything in his life since he was a child, and every object became data which saved in his brain so that he can pick up them whenever he need materials.
